Two glasses of festive red wine sangria, and a large mason jar container.

Festive Red Wine Sangria

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bottle of dry red wine, I used an inexpensive Spanish table wine
  • 1 cup brandy (or apple brandy)
  • 1 cup triple sec (orange liqueur)
  • 1 orange, juiced
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 orange, thinly sliced
  • 1 apple, 1/2 thinly sliced, 1/2 diced to reserve as garnish
  • 1/2 cup fresh cranberries

Instructions

  1. Add the orange slices, apple slices and fresh cranberries to your jar or pitcher.
  2. Place the sugar, brandy, triple sec and orange juice into a large measuring cup. Stir until the sugar is dissolved, then pour in the jar on top of the fruit.
  3. Finally, add the bottle of red wine and stir to combine. Store in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours until cold. You can make the sangria a day or two in advance.
  4. Serve over ice (or not – your preference!), garnish with freshly diced apples a few fresh cranberries, and an orange slice on the rim for good measure. Enjoy!

Notes

This is a strong drink! If you want to lighten it up, skip the brandy.
Double the recipe if you’re having a large gathering!
