Jalapeno Simple Syrup

Description

Jalapeno simple syrup is the key to amazing margaritas! Jalapenos, sugar and water turn into simple syrup that’s sweet with a little heat. This recipe is easily doubled and lasts in the refrigerator for at least a few months.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 3 fresh jalapenos, halved

Instructions

  1. Place the water and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. The sugar will quickly melt into the water creating your simple syrup.
  3. Add the jalapeno halves and simmer on low for 5-10 minutes until the jalapenos turn from a bright green to a khaki color. Turn off the heat and let the syrup cool in the pan for 15 minutes.
  4. Strain the syrup into a labeled glass jar and refrigerate until cold.
