How to Cook Wild Rice

Ingredients

  • 1 cup wild rice
  • 2 1/2 cups stock (chicken or beef) or water
  • 1/2 teaspoon Kosher salt

Instructions

  1. Place all ingredients in a saucepan over medium high heat and bring to a boil.
  2. Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer for 50-60 minutes until most of the grains pop open. The wild rice should not have any crunch left to it.
  3. Turn off the heat and let sit covered for 15 minutes. Uncover and drain any excess liquid. Use the wild rice hot, or place in the refrigerator to cool down for other recipes.
